Watoto Church Mukono Celebrates One Year

WATOTO CHURCH MUKONO 1ST YEAR ANNIVERSARY TESTIMONIES

A year of family. A year of growth. A year of God’s goodness.
As we marked one year of Watoto Church Mukono, our members shared precious testimonies of what this first year has meant to them.

Their stories reflect love, transformation, and a community where everyone belongs.

Suzan Nabiryo
“My family and I had stopped attending any church. But when my husband visited Watoto Church Mukono, he came back and told me that he had found a church I should join. When I came, I found loving and caring people with genuinely generous hearts—people who stand with you in every situation. Through this community, God has taught me to be generous, kind, and more concerned about the needs around me. I now look at situations in my community with compassion, something that wasn’t the case before.”

“We are blessed to belong to Watoto Church Mukono, and even more blessed to celebrate its first anniversary. We used to attend Bweyogerere, and honestly, the distance made it difficult, so we kept yearning for something closer. Today, we are near church—and this has taught us to take God’s timing seriously. He has taught us patience and reminded us that He makes everything beautiful in its time.

Like Pastor Julius shared, we have learned never to despise humble beginnings. Last year we were dancing at the launch, and today we are celebrating one year of God’s goodness.”

“It was overwhelming excitement when we received the news that we were getting Watoto Church Mukono. As UCU students, it had been difficult to travel to Bweyogerere, and as a cell leader, convincing people to attend church physically was tough. Most young adults resorted to online church, which wasn’t as effective for them.

Mukono felt like an answered prayer. The distance is walkable, it is accessible, and it has created an environment where young adults can fully participate. It is simply a beautiful journey to witness.”

“This anniversary means a lot to us. We’ve moved from downtown (KPC), then Watoto Church East (Bweyogerere), and now Mukono. This feels like home. We have a personal relationship with almost everyone who comes here—it’s like one big family. And now it takes us just 5–7 minutes to get to church.

Because Bweyogerere was far, it was hard to participate fully, but here in Mukono we have had opportunities to serve. I serve on the setup team and we are more engaged in ministry. I used to say I wanted to serve God but always had excuses. When Mukono opened and God gave us a chance to serve, it reminded us that He cares about the desires of our hearts and fulfills them in His timing.

We have learned that God truly has good plans for His people.”

“When Mukono started, many of our challenges were solved because we live here. Previously, we struggled to travel to Bweyogerere weekly, but now I even walk to church. I began ministry leadership long ago—assistant cell leader, cell leader, zonal leader—and now to see Mukono birthed is a dream fulfilled.

I am very happy to see how strong we have started. It means a lot to witness people coming every Sunday and giving their lives to Christ. Who ever thought Mukono would have a fellowship like this? It took time, but God has done it.”

Rita Opira – Host Team
“When we started, we were just a handful of ushers—sometimes only five on a Sunday. We had to call out for support because five ushers can’t do all the work. Today, at least 15 ushers show up every Sunday, voluntarily. I thank God for this growth, not only in ushering but across all ministries.

Watoto Church Mukono has also opened doors for my family. My children serve actively in Morph, and my eldest is part of the tech team. For me, Mukono has taught me to trust God more deeply, even with the mountains before me, and to draw closer to Him.

What stood out for me was our first My Miracle Missions Offering (MMO) recently. We had never done it before and didn’t know what to expect, but it went smoothly—people gave joyfully, and God’s presence filled the house.”
