Watoto Church

ACCOUNTABILITY

Two of the core values at the heart of this church is that of excellence and character. Character based on scriptural integrity. Excellence routed in skillfulness of hand and attitude of heart.

Consequently, the church and all it’s work is integrous in operation and accountable in practice. Watoto Church is a non-profit organisation and is registered as a company limited by guarantee. The church has a leadership structure, with a Church Council (CC) at its apex. The Church Council is the overall policy and regulatory organ of Watoto Church and ensures good practice at all levels.

STATEMENT ON FAMILY & SEXUALITY
Watoto Church adheres to the biblical standard of sexuality recognising that it is a gift from God to be enjoyed only within the confines of a monogamous, heterosexual marriage relationship. Watoto Church is in favour of pro-family legislation that reflects and preserves this biblical standard providing security for all members of society. Watoto Church remains committed to providing help to anyone grappling with the moral and sexual issues of life.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Watoto Church is a Bible-based church and recognises the practise of tithes and offering by the voluntary membership. The church returns its tithe (10%) annually on the tithes and offering received by the membership to Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG), to which it is affiliated.

Financial statements are prepared annually after a comprehensive assessment by independent auditors – currently Ernst & Young. The financial reports are compliant with International Financial Reporting Standards under the historical cost convention. Income and expenditure is recognised in the books of accounts and the income includes tithes, offerings and donations received during the financial year. The church is a faith-based organisation and is, therefore, exempt from income tax under the Uganda Income Tax Act.

Annual audited financial statements are presented at an Annual General Meeting open to the public every April.
