Can one adopt a Watoto Child?
The children are already legally adapted by Watoto but you can support the ministry in taking care of them through sponsorship.
Do I have to be born again to give a donation or sponsor a child with Watoto?
You do not have to be born again to sponsor a child with Watoto, as long as you are willing to give and are okay supporting a child from a Christian organisation with Christian values.
How many sponsors does each child have?
Each beneficiary has multiple sponsors and this enables Watoto to provide the holistic care that is a significant component of the Watoto vision. Sponsorship contributions for a particular beneficiary will be pooled together to meet the child’s needs.
What type of updates will I receive?
All sponsors will receive a welcome pack when they sign up with a message from our pastor, an annual beneficiary update at the end of every year and a financial statement when requested. You may also choose to receive quarterly newsletters in order to learn about Watoto developments.
How long does sponsorship last?
Sponsoring a child goes on until the child’s education is finished and they are ready to leave the program, or a mother is ready to retire. However, we understand that financial circumstances change so don’t worry;
you’re not locked into a contract. If you are unable to make regular sponsorship payments either temporarily or permanently, feel free to contact us to explore your options.
What happens to a Watoto child once they are ready to transition?
Once a child completes school and is ready to transition, Watoto gives them a six months period to allow them transition into the world and they receive a transition package to help them as they start a new life of independence.
Can I communicate with my Watoto beneficiary without going through Watoto?
As a sponsor, you will receive a minimum of 2 letters from your sponsored child every year and you can write back to them either through regular post to Watoto or through email uganda.sponsor@watoto.com
How many Beneficiaries does Watoto have currently?
This number keeps changing. Please find out the current stats from our sponsorship office.
Can I send a gift to my Watoto beneficiary?
Our gift policy places all gifts into a pool for equitable sharing among all beneficiaries in the program. However, if you come to visit your sponsored child, you are welcome to carry something that the whole family will enjoy.
Can I Visit My Sponsored Individual?
You are welcome to visit your sponsored individual. See for your self what is happening in the Watoto villages. This will be a life-changing experience as you interact with our babies, children and moms; pastors, teachers and others involved on the ground in Uganda. Please contact our sponsorship office with your preferred visit date in mind. A two weeks notice from your selected date will be much appreciated to help facilitate this visit.
If I sponsor a special needs child, can I get information regarding their special need?
Our child protection policy does not allow the team to share this information.
How does Watoto raise sponsors?
Watoto raises funds primarily through sponsorship. It is the Financial Heartbeat of Watoto child care and it a global Department We have offices in US, Canada, UK, Europe, Netherland, Scandinavia, Asia, Australia, our Head Office in Uganda.
Watoto also raises sponsors through choir tours, fundraiser events held in different country offices and self sustainability programs aimed at pursuing land for raising live stock and cultivating crops.
The farms provide the children with opportunities to learn new skills and help the villages become self sustaining for meat and vegetables
