Family Cell Gathering in a home

MARRIEDS CELL GUIDE: JULY 2026

TOPIC: STAYING ON COURSE

ICE BREAKER: What is the one thing your spouse does that brings peace to your home?

REFLECTION:
Joshua’s declaration ’But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15) is a memorable, inspiring and foundational commitment for couples who desire to have a Biblical marriage.

We all begin at this point in our dream for ‘they lived happily thereafter’. Then life starts to unfold; pressure begins to mount with the need to pursue worthwhile life goals such as financial security, higher social status, greater influence, and personal satisfaction. Together with that pressure comes the blessings of children, responsibilities, and new opportunities.
What seemed obvious in the beginning, like joint devotions, intimacy and shared roles within the family, becomes blurred. Unconditional love gradually becomes overshadowed by misunderstandings, blame, and unresolved conflicts leading to pursuit of self-interest and self-preservation.

We struggle to wholeheartedly embrace the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. We face the challenge of turning off walking along the more logical and emotional lane named ‘My way and My will’ instead of continuing the ancient kingdom path to heaven.

Is there a way we can stand together as couples and help each other to stay on course in our life’s journey as individuals, couples, and families?

TEXT:
Mathew 7:24-29 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
