Watoto believes that Africa’s greatest resource is women empowered.
The harsh reality is that many of these women have been left to bear the brunt of social breakdown through poverty, unemployment and disease.
But when a woman is enabled to reach her full potential, she has the power to raise her family and transform her community.
Through Watoto Neighbourhood, we’re empowering the most vulnerable women to reach their full potential. Since inception in 2008, we have reached over 8,700 women in Uganda and South Sudan, providing them with skills for a sustainable future. Women’s economic empowerment is a prerequisite for sustainable development, pro-poor growth, and the achievement of all the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs, 2010).
Gender equality and empowered women are catalysts for multiplying development efforts. Investments in gender equality yield the highest returns of all development investments (OECD, 2010).
This year, with this tournament, we aim to raise UGX 450,000,000 with the goal of starting up/boosting 1000 women, as each mother is provided with a business starter kit worth UGX 450,000. So take on the challenge of impacting lives while enjoying the good game of golf.

STORIES OF IMPACT
Ritah Nakazzi
Rita is a mother of four, who wants to give her children a better chance at life than she originally had. As a child, Rita had to drop out of school in Primary Two to start working. Later, after separating from her children’s father, she struggled to provide for her kids and tried to make ends meet by washing clothes.
But in 2022, Rita encountered the love of Jesus at Watoto Neighbourhood. Here, she received business classes, discipleship training, and a community of supporters who wanted God’s best for her.
Rita happily exclaimed, “I now run a small business from home, selling various items like sweets, charcoal, yellow bananas, onions, tomatoes, eggs, and ladies dresses.”
She added that with the startup boost she received from the Watoto Golf Tournament, her business has grown and she can now pay rent, care for her children, and provide medical support for her family.
We are so thankful for the miracle God is doing in Rita’s life.
Annet Nassozi
After losing her father at a young age, Annet struggled through school and eventually dropped out. Sadly, she became a mother under difficult circumstances and faced several health challenges.
But Annet’s life was completely transformed when she joined Watoto Neighbourhood and gave her life to Christ. Even in the middle of her health battle, Annet shared that her faith grew stronger. She learned hairdressing and business skills, and started a tomato business, which now earns her a greater income.
In fact, last year, Annet had the opportunity to supply produce for the Watoto Golf campaign team, which helped her grown her clientele and elevate her business earnings. And today, Annet is empowered. She is now able to send all her children to school and is well on her way to purchasing her dream land and building a house where her children can thrive. Thank you for being a pivotal part of Annet’s story – your generosity has made a lasting impact in the lives of Annet and her children.
